No Thanks To You
No Thanks To You is a little used name which I utilized for livejournal and a few other fringe sites that I didn't want to patron with my usual range of pseudonyms. So when I came across melo: inelegant_x and she asked to passing melo members, "If you had a boat, what would you name it?", that was the first thing that came to mind. What more fitting title?
She came back and asked why. It wasn't until after I left my explanation, that I realized its a valid point and a fitting post... you deserve to know.
"My boat would be named No Thanks To You because everyone in my life has always been a hater. People either tell me I CAN'T or WON'T do shit, or when I do, they get jealous and try and make up excuses or reasons why I might have succeeded. I've lead a very unorthodox type life, not going into college for four years, then graduating then getting married, but I'm HAPPY. So wherever I go in life, whatever I do, I'm happy and its no thanks to you."
So here's to all you haters. All of you people who didn't think I could make it outside of Cleveland, much less all the places I have been since. Here's to all your jealousy. I fart in your general direction. I hope you choke on it.
Here's to all the people who thought I wasn't smart enough to plan it, not tenacious enough to hack it, not foxy enough to rock it, I did it, so what now? Doubters, haters and all other naysayers, there's the fucking door. Use it. But before you go, here's my ass. Kiss it. Cos I did it all, no fucking thanks to you.

Allow me to reintroduce myself... forgive me, I feel like we hardly know one another anymore.

If you'd like to become better acquainted (and I would), my name is Maggie(fiasco). I am 25 years old, going on 26and marveling still about how the last seven years have passed me by. I still feel 19 in my head, and I am beginning to understand what my parents and grandparents meant when they said "You are growing up so fast" and "I'm tired of having birthdays." Every day, I regret that I deleted two years of melo posts, because its true that once you gain enough perspective, things look much different in the changed light. I long to see my silly seventeen-year-old self in metaphor. I live outside of Boston, Massachusetts, but I spent the past few years of my life in Orange County, California. I grew up in Cleveland, Ohio but at this rate, I'm never going home.
Everything about me can be a contradiction. I change my mind like the sea goes out to tide. Sometimes I wish time away and urge the clock to run faster, and others I am left staring at my face, wondering if these fine lines I am seeing are my imagination. Wasn't I just in high school, turning 21, 22, 23...? I am a hypocrite who hates hypocrisy. I'm this and then I'm that, up and then down. I love classic rock, as well as classical music. When I get social, sometimes I get overwhelmed, but when I'm left alone for too long I start feeling like I'm losing my voice. Typical, right?
I don't necessarily believe in astrology or nameology, but I am constantly amused when their suggestions and accusations wind up being right. In that respect, I'm a classic Pisces and a very uncommon Margaret. My favorite color is blue, though you wouldn't know it with all the pink things I own. I like to make things with my hands, crafty projects and art. I love pastels and charcoals and paints; the carpet in all my bedrooms bears proof.
I consider myself to be somewhat of a nerd: my mum bought me a subscription to Fantasy&Sci-Fi magazine at age fourteen; I can beat your ass in Harry Potter trivia; I play more video games than most people work at a full-time job; and meeting people from the internet is something I've been doing since I was a freshman in high school. I started reading Michael Crichton and Stephen King when before I knew what most of the curse words and sexual innuendos meant, and I'm somewhat of a grammar Nazi. I'm a melo admin, a self-confessed internet addict, and most of the people I know in real life, I met from online. Depending on your perspective, I'm a geek... but I could stand to get geekier.
Most of all, I'm probably a lot like you. Everyone, at certain points in life, feels stranded and alone. But from where I'm standing, I can see us all, holding candles on platforms in the ocean. Each of us too concentrated on shielding our guttering flames against the wind to realize that if we turned round, or left, or right there'd be someone next to you. And you could stand back to back, or arms in a circle and protect the light together. I know now that I am all too common a person, with all too normal anxieties and aspirations. I have been there, and done that enough to know these things. I suffer from the common man's disease; ease of living has lulled me to sleep... My biggest problem is not knowing what I want.
I'm the kind of girl who wears poisonous flowers in her hair and catches snakes at the river. I like to get dirty and play with the boys, but at the end of the day I need a hot shower, a clean towel, a soft bed and all the trappings of being a female. I'm the kind of girl who prefers beer bottles over martini glasses and will out-fart you in a farting contest... but GOOD beer! Don't give me your shit out of a can. I'm the kind of girl who lines up her make-up in order of deadliness and lines her eyes with cigarette ash, and lips with lovers' blood. Give me a night alone, and I'll put on cosmetics for hours. Invite me out, and I'm running out the door with my hair undone. Like I said, typical, right?

"I'm like a cat in the city. Sitting in the open window. Waiting. Watching."
I knew there was a reason I always loved reading your melo. That's proof of it right there. Best sentence I've read in a loooong time. I relate to it on many levels; I'm a city girl who loves nature, I'm totally in love with planting & growing things...I could go on.
If I had the space to do it, I'd give hobby farming a go.
I've got a blueberry plant & I am just dying to see the little green berries turn blue.
Gardening is the shit, isn't it?
That's freaken rad!
You know how I love making things grow :D
hmmm, it seems unlikely in usual circumstances but you have a lot of information as far as folder and date... I'll see what we can do!
sweetcandy, i have a question.
an entry is missing in my fiction_fantasy folder, dated 3/30/08. it's incomplete. normally, i have everything backed up somewhere, but this one entry i have NOTHING on, and now that i finally has the gusto to finish this series... i need to know where i left off. any chance you could try to save it? if not, that's alright, i kind of remember what i wrote, but it's hard to say exactly what it was almost 2 years ago. (hugs)
OMG i was just about to ask what HRG stood for!!! I figured out that it was Noah because of the descriptions of what happens, but I never knew what it was called. Hahahahha.
And.... I Was wondering the same thing about the Haitian and "Gone Haitian". So bizarre.
ha i enjoyed this post even though you had previously explained it to me!
:]
on the note of my music, thank you. i never had an autoplay type thing before because i find it perpetually annoying that everyone has terrible taste it seems. but! when i heard this song it really moved something inside of me & i wanted other people to hear it.
given the choice no one ever really hits play on a profile song.
my boat name shall be 'the boat.'
(i.e. the boat is here... the boat is sinking!)
Fo realz. I don't think I have a single enemy on Melo. Oh, there are a very small number who have enemied me. But I can't be forced to care. So yes, I'ma bring drama llama to Melo! It'll be UNPRECEDENTED.
Yeah, I haven't watched Heroes until just recently and so Haiti had already been a "thing" for several weeks. Totally new dimension!
Gahhh D-san, you are SOOO petty and dramatic. ;) ♥
The only person I really got stuck into calling an alternate name was Samuel. I STILL call him Evil Butterfly Man. lolz
My petty rule is simply to never make enemies.
the idea of getting "haiti'd" has a whole new dimension now too with that whole haiti catastrophe.
that is still, to this day, my very favorite heroes moment ever. ever.
'god, claire, that's disgusting' i had to reassure my grandparents that i was, in fact, not insane because i was laughing so hard.
it really does get annoying after a while. it's definitely a 'GOD I GET IT ALREADY' type of things. i think the one that gets me the most, though is claire.
'you can do what i can do?' like, geeze. you're not that special. shoot.
i still call him hrg, even though i'm well aware of what his name is.
like i call nathan the 'flying man' and i call syalr the 'brain man' sometimes.
i think they want to give little hints of superhero aliases, you know?
like batman versus bruce wayne or something.
which is why he's the hatian forever and he's hrg forever.
Awww Sylar doesn't EAT it. ;) Claire : "are you going to eat it?" Sylar : "...That's disgusting" LOLOL One of my fave parts evar. But yeah, I know its their motivation. Everyone has one, but they're just so fucking obvious about it. I GET IT, he's a cop but he says it in SOOO many episodes. If I had all of the seasons on DVD, I swear I would make a montage just so you could see how many there are, back to back.
And srsly, me and my bf now threaten to "Haitian" each other all the time. I can't believe they verb-ed his "name". For the longest time I kept saying to the TV, "HIS NAME IS RENE!" OMG the guy has a fucking personage besides his ethnicity. Also, I noticed they keep mentioning Noah as H.R.G. or Horn Rimmed Glasses. We know his name, why do they keep calling him HRG??
every hero has a catch phrase.
mohinder always talks about his father
hiro always talks about destiny
claire is always asking if you can do what she can do
peter is convinced that there's more to this
hrg is always taking care of everything
parkman is always all about his copiness
sylar... well he just wants to eat your brain
and i never noticed that about the hatian.
but yeah, it's pretty messed up.
do you get a head change at all? thats what i miss ... =/
Hiya from the random tour bus... I must say... reading your stuff makes me feel not so alone and inquizitive about life in general... Happy I stopped by and friend? hopeing to read more into the life of Fiasco...
Man most of my enemies are back from the melo 1.0 era. I have surprisingly few for as many people as I tortured back then, and at least two of them I have because I outed them as cheaters.
I do hope to drive-by someone someday and then yell out, "MELO, BITCH!" and then they'll have to use a computer with a straw to blow in to add me to their enemy list.
MAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGZZZZZ!!!! Really lemme know about doing an East Coast Party this summer!!! I cant wait to FINALLLY meet you. Lishie and I talked about our fav melo Lovlies all weekend and of course you made the list!!!

You never say, "I'm gonna fight you, Steve." You just smile and act natural, and then you sucker-punch him.
won't give you up, won't let you down, and i won't leave you falling...
but the moment never comes.

my parent's dog just destroyed a bag of fertilizer and some places where peas were planted.
totally off the subject, but cleverly related: you can put your hands in my soil any day ;)
