In true cosplayer fashion, there's an thread up on cosplay.com right now called obligatory gun jumping for blizzcon '11. haha.

Basically, the cosplayers of the female persuasion have been inspired to start designing just for fun, day 2 costumes. although, we should totally get some dudes in on this! haha. The theme? Burlesque/Steampunk. It started out with a girl for each dragon aspect and has slowly grown to include anyone who wants to trick out a wow character into the theme. Now, as with most of these kind of things, I'm sure half of them won't show up or do it. But a decent amount of these girls are BlizzCon veterans and at least one or two of them has won the costume contest before. I think this might actually become a reality.

I've been brainstorming. My original idea was a Blue armored Wyvern. Excuse me, Wind Rider. I don't know why they call them windriders, it's a freaking wyvern. That idea involved a blue bodysuit (fuck body paint, especially for a day 2 cos) a corset that had armor plates, studs and a chain, A bustle with wings off of it (Maryss came up with the idea for alexstraza and I think it'd be a great cohesive thing if we all did it) a crazy, blown out wig. Armor plates bracers that connect/continue into paw gloves with claws.

Then, Kyle took me out yesterday. He wanted a Slytherin hat/scarf for the midnight showing. We figured it would be cold out at midnight. He must've decided that it was Spoil-Deena-Day, cause he also bought me the Ravenclaw hat and scarf. Then he took me to a place called The Crypt. I fell heartbreaking in love with the most gorgeous, high quality corset i'd ever seen. I put it on and started contemplating how little money I could actually live off of for the rest of the month. I was about to push buying comicon tickets til december. The shop guy who laced me in, maxed me out and kept telling me I looked bomb and that it was perfect on me. It was easily a $150 quality corset, being sold for like $80. I just could not stop staring at my silhouette. I knew it was coming home with me, if i had to break myself and eat top ramen and do nothing but homework and play wow and walk to school if i ran out of gas to get it. Then... Kyle bought it for me! I think i literally jumped and down and squeed like a little girl. It's my christmas present. He's going to wrap it up.

It's perfect for the burlesque project, if i can design something around it. It's longline with a sweetheart and steel boning. It's got light and dark purple stripes and lace along the top and bottom. The light purple strips kind of show up with a pink hue sometimes. I have extra stocking stays in my lingerie chest that I can sew into it. My current thought process is Onyxia, but someone's already doing an epic onyxia. If i can't live up to it, I'd rather do something else. Any ideas? I'd like to be something with wings, if not a dragon. Here's my corset, although this picture doesn't really do it justice.

A couple of other wow/burlesque ideas i can't get out of my head...

A tiny, jaunty whitemane chapeau with netting like a fascinator.

A bird themed (read: Arrakoa or Anzu) with crazy feather boas.

A wasp (read: AQ bug or Zangarmarsh variety) with a glowy butt bustle.

A Tyreal or a classy succubus could look good with wings on the bustle.

Some crazier things I've been debating but don't go with the corset are Burlesque Headless Horseman and Burlesque Ossie, which could have epic little masks. Those two would be easily recognizable and quite unique.

I shared most of these ideas on the Aspects of Awesome page, with the exception of anything I'm considering seriously doing myself (HH, Ossie, Wyvie).
